How CS2 case battles work

A case battle is case opening as a match. Every seat opens the same cases in the same order. After the last round the scores are compared, and the winners take everything that was opened in the battle. Modes change how the winner is chosen. This guide explains each format and mode on CSVOLT with simple examples.

The basic flow

  1. Someone creates a battle: they pick the cases (up to 50), a format and the modes.
  2. The seat price is the sum of the cases. Players join by paying it, or the creator calls bots.
  3. When every seat is full, the battle starts. Each round, every seat opens the same case at the same time.
  4. Each seat's total is the value of everything it unboxed.
  5. After the last round the winner is decided, and the pot, every item from every seat, goes to the winners.

Formats

Regular: every seat for itself

1v1, 3 way, 4 way, 6 way and 8 way. The seat with the best score wins the whole pot.

Team: play with others

2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 2v2v2, 2v2v2v2, 3v3v3 and 4v4v4. A team's score is the sum of its seats. The best team wins and the pot is split equally inside it. A strong teammate can carry a weak pull.

Shared: nobody loses

2P, 3P, 4P, 6P and 8P. Everyone opens together and the whole pot is split equally between all seats. It feels like opening cases with friends. Because there is no winner, the modes that pick a winner are not available here.

Modes

Crazy Mode: lowest wins

The goal flips. The seat or team with the lowest score wins. Pulling a knife is now bad news. It makes every round tense in a different way.

Jackpot Mode: a weighted draw

After the last round, one seat is drawn. Its chance is its share of all scores. Example: in a 3 way battle the scores are 100, 200 and 700 coins. The total is 1,000, so the chances are 10%, 20% and 70%. The 100 coin seat can still win. The drawn seat's side wins the pot.

With Crazy and Jackpot together, low scores get the bigger share instead: each seat is weighted by one over its score. A seat that scored nothing takes the whole line.

Terminal Mode: only the last round counts

The score is only the item from the final round. Everything before still goes into the pot, but only the last pull decides the winner. A cheap last case makes ties more likely, and ties are handled fairly, see below.

Borrow Mode: pay part, keep part

You choose how much to borrow, from 20% to 80%. Every seat then pays the rest of the seat price and keeps that same share of what it wins. Example: a 2v2 with a seat value of 50 coins and 60% borrowed. Every seat pays 20 coins. If the pot is 180 coins and your team wins, your share is 90 coins and you keep 40% of it, 36 coins.

Volt Spin, Fast Mode and Private Match

  • Volt Spin is on by default. When a seat hits one of a case's top items, a short bonus spin reveals it. It is only a reveal: the item was already decided.
  • Fast Mode shortens spins and rounds for long battles.
  • Private Match hides the battle from the list. Share the link with friends to let them join.

What cannot be combined

Crazy, Jackpot and Terminal need a winner, so they are switched off in Shared battles. The create window greys them out and says why, so you never pay for a mode that would do nothing. Private battles cannot be saved as a cook.

Bots

Choose Fill with Bots when you create a battle, or press CALL BOT on an empty seat. Bots roll exactly like people with the same rules, and they can win. That means you can play any format at any time, even when nobody else is online. Some setups are outside the bot limits, and the window tells you when.

Ties

If two sides finish level, one of them is picked using the battle's own seeds, so the tie break is provably fair too. Jackpot battles cannot tie, because one seat is drawn.

How a battle stays fair

Each battle gets its own server seed, and its hash is shown when the battle is created. The client seed is made at the moment the last seat fills, so nobody knows it in advance, not even the creator. Every round and every seat gets its own result from these seeds, and the jackpot draw and tie breaks use them too. After the battle the server seed is revealed and anyone can check the whole battle on the verify page. See how to verify provably fair results.

Tips for your first battles

  • Start with a 1v1 or a Shared battle with cheap cases to learn the pace.
  • Use Fast Mode once you know how it looks.
  • Read the cases before you join. A battle is only as good as the cases in it. See CS2 case odds explained.
  • Save setups you like as cooks.
  • Set your budget first. Battles are quick and easy to repeat.

Frequently asked questions

Who wins a case battle?

In normal battles the seat or team with the highest score. In Crazy Mode the lowest. In Jackpot Mode a seat is drawn with a chance based on its score.

What happens to the items after a battle?

The winners share every item opened in the battle, split as evenly as possible. What cannot be split as an item is paid in coins.

Can I play a case battle against bots?

Yes. Fill the empty seats with bots. They play with the same rules and can win.

Is Jackpot Mode better than normal mode?

Neither is better. Jackpot gives low scores a chance to win and high scores a smaller certainty. Normal mode always rewards the best score.

How is a tie decided?

One of the tied sides is picked from the battle's own seeds, so the result can be verified.

18+ only. CSVOLT uses virtual coins and every battle is a game of chance. Set limits in responsible gaming.
