Responsible gaming for CS2 players

Case opening, battles and wheel games are games of chance with real money behind the virtual coins. They can be fun in small doses and harmful when they are not. Responsible gaming means keeping control: a budget you set before you play, limits that hold when you are tired or upset, and a break when you need one. This guide covers the warning signs, the tools on CSVOLT and where to find free help.

Start with the right mindset

  • It is entertainment, not income. Money spent on cases is money spent on fun, like a ticket to a match.
  • Every result is random. Past results do not make a win due. No system beats a game of chance.
  • The skins are not the point. If you want a particular skin, buying it outright is cheaper and certain.
  • You must be an adult. Case sites are for players aged 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.

Warning signs

Be honest with yourself. Any of these is a reason to pause:

  • You spend more than you planned, or more than you can afford.
  • You open "one more" to win back a loss.
  • You borrow money, sell things or skip bills to keep playing.
  • You hide how much you play from friends or family.
  • You feel restless, anxious or low when you are not playing.
  • Play takes time from sleep, school, work or people you care about.
  • Wins feel like relief rather than fun.

The tools on CSVOLT

Everything below is under Account, Responsible gaming. You can also email [email protected] and ask for help setting it up.

Limits

Set a deposit, loss and wager limit, each per day, week or month. Once you reach a limit you cannot go past it until the period resets. Lowering a limit works at once. Raising one waits 24 hours, so a bad moment cannot undo a good decision.

Cooling off

A short break you choose yourself: 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. While it runs you cannot play, bet or deposit.

Self exclusion

A longer, stricter step: 6 months, 1 year or permanently. During an exclusion you cannot play any game, claim rewards, buy from the Spark Shop or deposit, and marketing stops. You can still sign in, see your history and redeem your balance.

A cooling off break or exclusion cannot be shortened, not by you and not by support. You can always choose a longer one. A permanent exclusion is for life, and accounts linked to an excluded person are closed.

Reality check

Switch on reminders that show your session time and your result for the session every few minutes. They are a simple nudge to stop and decide.

The vault

Put part of your balance in the vault with a time lock, from 1 hour to 30 days. Funds in a locked vault cannot be taken out early, even if you ask.

Habits that help

  1. Set the budget before you log in, and treat it as spent.
  2. Set a time limit and a phone alarm.
  3. Never chase losses. A loss is the cost of the session, not a debt to win back.
  4. Do not play tired, upset or after drinking.
  5. Keep auto play and fast spins for when you are calm. They make it easy to play more than you meant.
  6. Take regular breaks, and take a longer one if you notice the warning signs.
  7. Keep track of what you spend. Account, Transactions shows every deposit and redeem.

Free rewards are not a reason to play

Free cases, Sparks, races and codes are a bonus. Do not play more to reach a rank, finish a race or use up a code. Rewards are designed to be optional.

Getting outside help

If you are worried about someone else

You cannot exclude another person, but you can talk to them and point them to these tools and services. If you think a minor is using CSVOLT, email [email protected] straight away.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stop myself from opening too many cases?

Set a deposit or loss limit under Account, Responsible gaming before you play. If that is not enough, take a cooling off break or self exclude.

Can I cancel a self exclusion early?

No. Once it has started it cannot be shortened, by you or by support.

What happens to my balance if I self exclude?

It stays yours. You can still sign in and redeem it once the playthrough rules and any checks are met.

Is case opening gambling?

It is a game of chance with things of value at stake, and it should be treated with the same care as gambling.

Where can I get help?

BeGambleAware, GamCare, Gamblers Anonymous and Gambling Therapy offer free and confidential support, as do local helplines.

18+ only. CSVOLT uses virtual coins and every game is a game of chance. Set limits in responsible gaming.
