A skin upgrader lets you trade a skin you have for a chance at a skin worth more. You put something in, you pick a target, and a roll decides. Win and you get the target. Lose and your input is gone. The bigger the jump in value, the smaller the chance. This guide explains how the Upgrader on CSVOLT works and how to use it sensibly.
The idea in one sentence
Your chance follows the value you put in compared with the value you want back. Ask for twice the value and your chance roughly halves. Ask for ten times the value and it is about a tenth of what a double would be.
Step by step
1. Choose your input
Pick 1 to 10 items from your inventory, add coins, or both. Items from cases, battles and the marketplace all work. The total is your stake, from 0.01 to 5,000 coins per upgrade.
2. Choose your targets
Pick 1 to 5 skins from the market. The buttons 1.5X, 2X, 5X, 10X and 20X jump the market to skins worth about that multiple of your input, which is the fastest way to find a target. You can also search and filter by price yourself.
3. Read the chance
The page shows your chance before you roll. Two rules apply:
| Rule | Why |
|---|---|
| Targets must be worth at least 1.5x your input | So an upgrade is always a real step up |
| The chance is never above 60% | Follows from the 1.5x rule |
If you put a big stake on a cheap target, the page tells you the most you can put in for it. Targets can be worth up to 1,000,000 coins in total.
4. Place the win zone
The dial is split into 100,000 tickets. The gold part is the win zone, and its size is your chance. You can drag it anywhere around the dial. It does not matter where you put it: the zone covers the same number of tickets wherever it sits.
5. Roll
The needle spins and stops on one ticket. Inside the zone you win, the targets go to your inventory and your input is used up. Outside the zone the input is gone.
Why the roll is fair
The ticket comes from your own seed pair and a nonce, the same pair your case openings use. Before you play you can see the hashed server seed under Account, Fairness. Rotate your seed pair to reveal it, then recreate the ticket on the verify page. Moving the zone cannot change the ticket, and we cannot pick a ticket after you choose your zone.
Honest tips
There is no winning strategy
Each roll is independent. Small jumps win more often but give less. Big jumps win rarely but give more. Over many rolls no choice of target, zone or timing turns the Upgrader in your favour. Anyone who sells an "upgrader strategy" is wrong or lying.
Decide what the roll is for
Upgrade when you would honestly rather have the target than the item you hold, and you accept losing it. If you would be upset to lose the input, keep it or sell it instead.
Small steps feel steadier, but add up
Doing many 1.5x upgrades in a row to reach a big skin means passing many rolls. The chance to pass all of them is the chances multiplied together, and that gets small fast.
Know when to stop
Set a limit for the session. A loss is not a reason to roll again. Use the limits and breaks under Account, Responsible gaming if you want help sticking to a plan.
Upgrader or cases?
Cases give you a random item from a table. The Upgrader gives you a chance at the exact skin you choose. If you want a specific item, the Upgrader or the marketplace lets you aim for it. If you enjoy surprises, cases suit you better. Cases and upgrades are games of chance. Buying on the marketplace is not: you pay the listed price and get that skin.
Words you will see on the page
- Input: the items and coins you put in.
- Target: the skin or skins you want.
- Chance: the size of your win zone, shown before you roll.
- Win zone: the gold part of the dial.
- Ticket: the number the needle stops on, from 1 to 100,000.
- Nonce: the counter of your seed pair, used to recreate the roll.
Frequently asked questions
How is the upgrade chance calculated?
It follows the value of your input compared with the total value of your targets, and it is shown before you roll. The higher the target value, the lower the chance. The highest chance is 60%.
Does the position of the win zone matter?
No. It covers the same number of tickets wherever it is.
Can I upgrade several items into one?
Yes. Put in up to 10 items and coins together, and pick 1 to 5 targets.
What is the minimum stake?
0.01 coins. The maximum stake is 5,000 coins per upgrade.
Can I check an upgrade roll?
Yes. Rotate your seed pair under Account, Fairness and enter the seeds and nonce on the verify page.
18+ only. CSVOLT uses virtual coins and every upgrade is a game of chance. Set limits in responsible gaming.
